Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026  ·  Effective: 24 October 2026

The short version. We run no analytics, set no cookies of our own, and ask you for nothing. The only third party that collects anything about you here is Google, through the advertising on the site. Everything below is a description of what this site actually does, checked against its own code rather than copied from a template.

1. What we collect ourselves

Nothing that identifies you, and less than most sites.

There is no analytics software on this site — no Google Analytics, no pixel, no tag manager, no heatmap tool. We do not know which pages you visited, how long you stayed or where you came from. We removed the analytics references that a previous version of this policy contained, because the tracking they described was never installed.

We set no cookies of our own and store nothing in your browser — no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no preferences. Changing the karat tab or using the calculator stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere; it happens entirely inside the page.

The fonts are served from our own domain, not from Google Fonts. A previous version of this policy listed Google Fonts as a third party. That is no longer accurate — the site loads no Google-hosted fonts at all, and our build fails if any page tries to.

The contact form does not submit anywhere. It assembles the text you typed into a message and hands it to your own email program. Nothing you type into that form reaches any server of ours unless you then choose to send the email.

2. What our hosting provider sees

This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests your browser makes — including your IP address, the page requested, your browser and device type, and a general location derived from the IP — in order to serve the page and to protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare may set its own security cookies for bot detection. This is standard infrastructure logging, not profiling by us, and we do not combine it with anything else. Cloudflare's handling is described in its own privacy policy.

3. Advertising — the part that does collect data

This site carries advertising supplied by Google. This is the one place where data about you is genuinely collected, and we would rather be direct about it than bury it.

You can turn personalised advertising off for your Google account at Google Ad Settings, and you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser will also stop most of it; the site works fine without them.

4. Other third parties

That is the complete list. Loading a page on this site causes your browser to contact exactly two places: our own rates service, and Google's advertising script. We checked rather than assumed — and neither our pages nor our rates service returns a Set-Cookie header of any kind.

5. Data we hold

If you email us, we hold your email and whatever you wrote, in an ordinary mailbox, for as long as it is useful to keep — typically so we can follow up on a correction you reported. We do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not run one. We have never sold, rented or traded personal information and have none to sell.

6. Your rights

Rather than claim blanket compliance with every regime, here is what we can actually do.

Because we hold almost nothing, most requests are quick to answer: if you want to know what we have about you, or want it deleted, write to us and in nearly every case the answer will be that the only record is the email you just sent, which we will delete on request. Advertising data held by Google is not ours to disclose or delete — use Google Ad Settings and your Google account controls for that.

For readers in the European Union or the United Kingdom: we are a small Indian publisher and do not target these markets, but if you are reading this from there and want your data dealt with, contact us and we will do what is within our power, which is described above.

For readers in India: the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is being brought into force in stages. The DPDP Rules were notified in November 2025; published timelines indicate that the substantive obligations on data fiduciaries, along with the corresponding rights and penalties, take effect on 13 May 2027. We will meet those obligations as they apply to us, and will update this page rather than leave it describing something out of date.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We will post changes here with an updated date at the top. This page has been corrected before — it previously described analytics we do not run and a font service we do not use — and we would rather amend it visibly than quietly.
